According to an analysis by TeckFront, NOK, the stock of Nokia, changed positively by ‘48.71%’ during the year 2013 while on the other hand, MSFT changed by ‘+28.52%’ during the same year. This is a miraculous change, rather comeback in the value of NOK which was once treated as the Sick and Dying Company of the past.
It can be seen as the revival of Nokia with Market Cap of $ 30.07 B, and ultimately the Nokia technology and the faith of Nokia Administration on the quality of products. But it was not possible without the solid investment of $ 1 billion per annum from Microsoft though the actual hero looks to be the technology of Nokia itself and the yes, the marvel of Windows OS.
As the stock of the company is treated as the financial health of a company, NOK, started 2013 with just 4.22 value and raised to the height of 8.03 at the end of the year. Many times during the year, it seemed that NOK might lose the heroic struggle to comeback but after the September 2, 2013 – when it had just the value of 3.90 – NOK had the Win-Win fight back.
In its fight-back to revival, won with its high quality product line of Lumia, Nokia left many competing companies, such as, Facebook, Hewlett-Packard, T-Mobile, Huawei, Google, Vodafone, Sony, Gigabyte, PANTECH, Microsoft, Toshiba, Apple and Samsung, far behind in NYSE.
With saying bye bye to Symbian and ending support for MeeeGo apps, the rumors are in the air that Nokia is on way to experiment with its first Android device. Will it be a conflict of interest with Microsoft's Windows Phone, is an issue to be seen in near future.
2013 was also a good year for the Nokia when it won the patent case in Germany from HTC.
Will
Nokia, powered by Microsoft, pose a tough competition for Apple or other competitors, and yet with the help of Windows Phone, Windows OS and its own high standards of Quality? This is a serious question.
2014 looks to be the year of Finnish IT giant, Nokia.
