Copilot+ AI Features, WiFi7, & Much MoreMicrosoft has announced the availability of the Windows 11 2024 (24H2) update, bringing in a plethora of features designed to leverage AI on Copilot+ certified systems.
Microsoft's Newest Windows 11 24H2 Update Takes The Copilot+ PC Platform To New Levels; PC Users Receive Similar TreatmentMicrosoft has been at the forefront when it comes to integrating the experience of AI into consumers' lives, whether through a revamped OS or even new devices. It won't be wrong to say that the latest Windows 11 update might be one of the biggest when it comes to mainstream AI integration in the operating system since, in a new blog post, Microsoft has revealed the additions to be introduced in the latest Windows 11 24H2 update, and we can summarize the update in a few words, then it'll be that Windows 11 is now fused up with AI.

Download the Microsoft 24H2 ISO Here! Some of the main highlights of the 24H2 update include:
> Windows Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) policy improvements and new automatic account management feature
> Personal Data Encryption (PDE) so that known Windows folders (Documents, Desktop, and Pictures) are protected using user authenticated encryption
> App Control for Business (formerly Windows Defender Application Control) to better protect your digital property from malicious code
> Windows-protected print mode, eliminating the need to rely on third-party software installers for Morpia-certified printers
> Local Security Authority (LSA) protection to help protect against the theft of secrets and credentials used for logon
Support for Wi-Fi 7
> Bluetooth® LE audio support for assistive devices
> New controls to help manage which apps have access to the list of Wi-Fi networks around you
> Rust in the Windows kernel
> SHA-3 support
Diving into the changes, one of the biggest additions is support for WiFi-7 connections, which now allows your Windows PC to have up to four times the speed of Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E and nearly six times that of Wi-Fi 5. Hence, this is a massive change for wireless connectivity, especially for portable systems that constantly need network access points. Apart from the quality of life changes, such as animations in the taskbar and a redesigned progress bar, one of the biggest highlights of Windows 11 24H2 is the "Copilot+ PCs" oriented updates, which we'll talk about next.
Image Source: MicrosoftWith the AI PC hype revolutionizing the laptop segment, Microsoft's Copilot+ initiative played a massive part in how manufacturers adjusted their product portfolio to incorporate -focused hardware, notably in-built neural engines, but we never really did have the exact idea of how this would work out, until now. With the latest Windows 11 24H2 update, Microsoft will bring in Live Captions, Auto Super Resolution (ASR), Windows Studio Effects, and many more AI-infused elements in the OS, ultimately revamping consumer workload for a new experience.
And now, the new update brings back the sort of "controversial" feature, Windows Recall, accessible to all Copilot+ PCs, rather than just Qualcomm's Snapdragon systems. For those unaware, Windows Recall is a feature that was said to significantly enhance user experience by recording everything the user does on the PC through snapshots rather than specific recordings. In this way, Microsoft primarily aimed at giving users the ability to "retrace their steps" and find content from the past simply through a prompt, or what Microsoft calls a "photographic memory."

Apart from this, Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) is also introduced, a feature that adjusts screen brightness based on the content being displayed, ultimately giving you a refined content consumption experience with an efficient battery consumption.
Another interesting change to mention is the upgrade to File Explorer, particularly in the ability to deal with files and through clear labels of each action. Moreover, File Explorer now adds support for 7-zip and TAR archives as well, moving ahead of the ZIP format, which is indeed impressive. There are several other small changes as well, which are targeted towards improving consumer experience tremendously, and to get an overview of them, we suggest to visit Microsoft's update notes
here.
Overall, the Windows 11 24H2 update is indeed a step towards the direction where AI will be infused in consumer computing. It's important to note that Microsoft will roll out the update in intervals, with eligible devices getting the exclusive treatment, followed by other devices based on hardware support and compatibility.
