Windows Phone 8.1 Dynamic Lock Screen Shown On Video
« on: July 05, 2014, 05:34:47 PM »
One Windows Phone 8.1 feature that was spotted a few months is the dynamic lock screen, but Microsoft is yet to properly detail it. Luckily, we can have another look at it.

Courtesy of a new video that was published in February, but has recently been discovered.

The clip shows dynamic lock screen apps like Album Art animation and Xbox Music with volume controls integrated at the top, providing a look that is completely different to what is available on the developer preview version of Windows Phone 8.1.

As this report notes, developers will get access to APIs that will enable them to build such animations, and indeed some applications are indeed being developed. However, we have no official confirmation from Microsoft on this.

At the moment the company appears to be testing the deployment of the platform, with reports that some users have already received update notifications in a select few markets.

However, global rollout is expected to begin towards the middle of this month. In the meantime, take a look at the video above to get an idea of what this new feature is all about. Seems rather powerful and a handy feature to have.
