Title: Cortana Sounds Unearthed In Windows 10
Post by: javajolt on November 29, 2014, 02:23:58 AM
Although Microsoft has not been overly generous in providing details about the Cortana integration in Windows 10, there have been signs enough over the past few months that it’s coming along.

And coming along well.

Each new preview build of the upcoming OS includes some new hints in this regard.

The Windows 10 Technical Preview has steadily built upon this feature, adding new options and features to the digital voice assistant. Though it stands to reason that many of these are unfinished, what with development still in its early stages.

Regardless, some new signs have been unearthed here (http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1236911-cortana-sounds-in-windows-10-and-windows-shell-experience-host/#entry596653779).

The WindowsApps directory contains a couple of folders with Cortana in the name. And they further contain some DLL files that contain references to the speech and sounds modules of the voice assistant.

Here’s the path, though you’ll need to take ownership to access it:

Last we heard on this was back in October with talk that build 9867 reportedly came with Cortana. The fact remains, though, that even with constant improvements to the service itself, the integration with Windows 10 will take a lot of time.

As things stand, the Consumer Preview release of the OS might provide us our first real look at how the service looks and feels on the desktop operating platform.

Until then, these hints will suffice.
