YouTube For Windows 8
« on: July 05, 2014, 05:28:30 PM »
A day may yet come when Google buries the hatchet with Microsoft and starts developing Metro apps, but that day is still far away. In the meantime users have to make do with third-party applications.

And as far as third-party applications go, YouTube for Windows 8 ticks all the right boxes.

The design is optimized for tablets, but is heavily inspired by the video sharing website, down to the red, gray and white color scheme. Most of the regular feature are in, including a selection of videos on the start page, the ability to search and browse for clips of interest.

The official description, in full:

Quote
“Get the YouTube for Windows 8. Instantly become the DJ, learn Kung Fu and easily share with friends. Catch up on your favorite videos and playlists from around the world on the couch, in the kitchen or on the go.”
This free app also allows you to sign into YouTube in order to access your playlists and watch later videos. Chanel subscriptions are also available, as is the handy bonus ability to download videos to your local system with a tap or a click.

You can also easily share videos via email or to the most popular social sites including Google+, Facebook and Twitter. The app works fine with all versions of Windows, including ARM based ones.
