Samsung’s next generation of thin-and-light laptops are on the way, and not surprisingly they’re powered by Intel Skylake processors and Windows 10 software.
What might be a little surprising is just how compact these new 2016 laptops are. The 13.3 inch Samsung 900X3L weight just 1.9 pounds and measures about half an inch thick, while the 15 inch Samsung 900X5L measures about 0.6 inches thick and weighs about 2.9 pounds.
Samsung hasn’t officially announced the new laptops in the US or Europe yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them on display at CES next week. According to South Korean documents, the company will offer at least 6 different models with 1920 x 1080 pixel displays.

• NT900X3L-K58 with Core i5-6200U, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD
• NT900X3L-K78L with Core i7-6500U, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
• NT900X5L-K24P with Pentium 4405U, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD
• NT900X5L-K38L with Core i3-6100U, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD
• NT900X5L-K58 with Core i5-6200U, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD
Each of these model has a full HD display, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, two USB 3.0 ports, and an SDXC card reader.
The 13.3 inch models have 30 Whr batteries and micro HDMI ports, while the 15 inch laptops have 39 Whr batteries and full-sized HDMI ports as well as mini Ethernet ports.
There’s also at least one model with a higher-resolution display. The Samsung NT900X3K-K36 has a 13.3 inch, 3200 x 1800 pixel display, an Intel Core i3-5005U processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of solid state storage. This model has a larger 44 Whr battery, measures 0.5 inches thick, and weighs about 2.4 pounds. The extra battery power should help keep the system going despite its more power-hungry screen.
Other features include a metal chassis and a screen that can be folded back 180 degrees.
