MWC 2018: Microsoft’s Seeing AI App wins Global Mobile Award
« on: February 27, 2018, 06:53:50 PM »
Last year, Microsoft released a new app called Seeing AI that changed the lives of blind and low vision community.

Seeing AI app uses the power of AI to describe nearby people, text, and objects. Blind and low vision community people can just hold up their phone and hear information about the world around them.

In December last year, Microsoft released a major update to the app with support for currency, color, light and handwriting recognition.

At the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, this Seeing AI app was awarded the Global Mobile Award (GLOMO Awards) under the “Best Use of Mobile for Accessibility & Inclusion” category.

“Congratulations to all of the winners and nominees of the 2018 GLOMO Awards,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA. “The GLOMOs recognize the best of the best in mobile, highlighting the technologies, products, companies, and individuals that are pushing the boundaries of ingenuity and innovation and creating a better future for all of us. We thank all of our entrants, judges, sponsors, and partners for supporting the 2018 GLOMOs.”

Apple iPhone X was awarded the Best Smartphone 2017 category while Apple TrueDepth Camera was awarded under Disruptive Device Innovation category.
