ASUS ROG unveiled new gaming laptops in their "For Those Who Dare" press event at Computex 2018. These are the Strix SCAR II and Hero II geared for eSports.


ASUS ROG's new Strix Gaming Laptops

These are designed to be the successor to the ROG gaming laptops that are specifically designed for eSports usage in fps and MOBA games.

Both the Strix SCAR II and Hero II have the first-ever 144Hz super-narrow bezel display with an ultra-fast 3ms gray-to-gray response time. This will give minimal to no input delay when gaming which is very important in high action-per-minute fps and MOBA titles. The nearly frameless design maximize the corner to corner real estate of the screen for less distractions. They both have 2.33 cm narrower bezels than their previous versions. It also has rubber frames surrounding the display to protect it from scratches when the lid is closed.


ROG Strix Hero II

Both laptops will also feature a gaming keyboard with HyperStrike Pro technology for precise input and commands. The keyboard has a desktop-inspired layout with four hotkeys included. It will also be compatible with Aura Sync RGB backlighting across four zones.

The SCAR II will have its WASD buttons highlighted while the Hero II will have the QWER buttons with transparent key caps and N-Key rollover technology. Durability is also not a problem as ASUS ROG promises a 20-million key press lifespan.

For maximum connection stability, the Strix SCAR II and Hero II will have a milti-antenna WiFi which is a first when it comes to gaming laptops. It will feature the patented ROG RangeBoost technology that uses a combination of four antennas located at the front and back of the laptops. It will have a 30% wider WiFi coverage which means dead spots will be minimal.


ROG Strix SCAR II

The new Strix Gaming laptops are powered by up to the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processors, up to 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz memory, and a choice of either NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or GTX 1070 GPUs. In terms of storage, it can have up to 4x of 512GB NVMe PCIe 3.0 and an additional 1TB Seagate FireCuda solid state hybrid drive.

Thermal management will be handled by the HyperCool Pro system. It has an extended cooling plate that can absorb heat and allows it to spread evenly to avoid thermal throttling. It also has 2 12V fans that delivers constant and stronger air flow. It also uses the Anti-Dust Cooling systems that dispels dust to avoid dust build up in the chassis.

The Overboost app can be accessed by pressing FN+F5 ot via the Gaming Center Hotkey. This app controls the fan settings including the Overboost mode that provides the fastest possible fan speeds that allows the new laptops to perform in their full potential.

In terms of audio, both has side firing speakers for immersive audio experience. Smart-amplifier technology is also available for more control in terms of output and it can also make its own real time adjustment according to the situation. The new gaming laptops have 200% louder volume than their predecessors as well. With headphones, the Sonic Studio III provides high-quality audio with surround sound as well as improved mic settings.

The ROG Strix SCAR II and Strix Hero II will be available in Q2 2018 in all ROG Stores nationwide.

The SCAR II will go for PHP 129,995 with a Core i7-8750 processor, 16GB of RAM. 1TB + 256GB NVMe strogae and an NVIDIA GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 GPU.

The Hero II will go for PHP 104,995 with the same specs except for the GPU that will feature a GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5.

ROG Strix SCAR II and Strix Hero II will be available within Q2 2018 in all ROG stores nationwide.
