Screenshot Shows Windows 8.1 Update 1 Has Reached Escrow
« on: February 07, 2014, 05:14:31 PM »
In confirmation that Microsoft may be close to completing the primary development work on Windows 8.1 Update 1, we have information that the update has now reached escrow state.

In fact, according to WZor, Windows 8.1 Update 1 RTM Escrow is ready, and the software giant is ready to ship the package to OEMs around the world so that they can install this new version of the operating system on their devices that will ship by spring.

The famed leaker has actually released a screenshot that shows the current state of affairs:

For the uninitiated, escrow in software development means that the major development works is finished, the set milestones are reached and no new features would be added — all that remains is adding final touches to the product in question.

And the product in question seems to picking up some hype.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 is now on track for launch in April, around the same time the software titan outs its Patch Tuesday updates. But PC makers will be in on the action early, as soon as late February or early March, in order to test and tune this new refresh to their upcoming devices.

If this is true, then there is every chance of this escrow report holding some weight.

Funny thing is, however, that Microsoft is yet to actually confirm the existence of this upgrade, let alone release any official details. Then again, they could not be too far away now, one can hope.
