Epson Stylus Photo T50 Problem
« on: April 29, 2020, 10:52:24 AM »
I'm not sure if this is an issue with Windows 10 not talking correctly to my Printer, or I have a physical problem with my Printer.
The Printer I have (Epson Stylus Photo T50) is a USB connected Printer, single function only.
More often than not, when I print to it, I find it's offline.
When I check the Printer queue, my file is there, waiting to be printed. But in the settings, "Connect" is greyed out.
If I pull out the USB cable, and immediately put it back in again, the printer works straight away.
Any thing I send to the Printer in that session then prints ok.
But next day, more than likely the problem re-emerges.
I always turn the Printer off when I finish printing.
Anyone have any ideas? Hopefully I've given you enough information.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Bigs11,

First, take a look at the power cord making sure it is plugged into the printer completely. Epson has published a Communication Error page that might help it tracking down any issues.

Have a look at Device Manager and see if there is an exclamation mark by your printer entry.

Check the Event Viewer, have a look here to access the viewer. Look for any Errors regarding your printer.

There is the possibility your USB cable has become bad, take a look at that. If that's the case it's an easy, fast, and inexpensive fix.

Also, your drivers could have become corrupt, below are the drivers and software for your printer.

Max OS

► Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

► Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

► Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks

► Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

► Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

If all of this fails there is a possibility it is the printer. How old is it? Why do you turn it off?

Hope this will help you track down the problems with your printer.

Thanks for the reply and very comprehensive information.
I think the 1st thing I do will be to try a different USB cable.
The printer is about 3 years old. It replaced a Epson R250, which had a CISS ink system. I deliberately got the the T50, as it was the only Epson that let me use my existing CISS.
I turn it off at the end of every session, as it doesn't get used sometimes for days.
It gets used for printing off photos at times, but mostly just printing off receipts and invoices.
If I have any success, I'll let you know what I think worked.
Regards.
