Internet Explorer 11 For Windows 7 Confirmed By Microsoft
« on: June 28, 2013, 12:04:22 AM »
In news that would surprise absolutely no one, Microsoft has officially confirmed that the newest version of its flagship web browser, Internet Explorer 11, will be released for Windows 7.

A test preview version of IE 11 is bundled with the newly launched Windows 8.1 Preview.

But Engadget reports that Redmond confirmed during the BUILD conference that bringing IE 11 to Windows 7 is one of the projects the software titan is working on at the moment. No other details like expected release date have been provided, however.

The final version of Internet Explorer 11 will be available with Windows 8.1 when it releases later this year, and judging by how things transpired in the past, it may take a few months for the browser to become available for users of the last generation operating system.

Even if the last generation operating system in question is the most popular OS in the world — Windows 7 is currently the leading operating system in the world, finding itself on pretty much half the computers in the world that are connected to the Internet.

Although it was previously speculated that Internet Explorer 11 would come to Windows 7, Microsoft was tight-lipped and would not say whether the browser would arrive on the old operating system.

This news will obviously please users that intend to stay with Windows 7 for the foreseeable future, as that would allow them the possibility to upgrade to a modern browser with faster speed, improved battery life and security, plus support for web technologies like WebGL and more.
