What’s New In Windows 10 For Phones Build 10051?
« on: April 10, 2015, 09:02:32 PM »
A lot, apparently. Smack on target, Microsoft have just pushed the second preview build of Windows 10 for Phones to users that have signed up for the Windows Insider program.

Build 10051 is now available for download.

And although it comes with a lot of improvements, large and small, under and over the hood, the company has documented some of the bigger changes in this blog post. Here’s a rundown of the new features in this preview build:
•Project Spartan. An early version of the new browser is available in this version, complete with its new rendering engine and features like Reading View and Reading List. It’s not the default choice right now, and IE 11 is available too.
•New Mail and Calendar apps. Microsoft incudes Outlook Mail and Outlook Calendar, as the new built-in mail and calendar solutions. These are universal applications for Windows 10 and bring around a fresh new user interface with a toggle to move between both.
•New Phone and Messaging apps. Both applications have been updated in this version, with new visual designs and refreshed set of features.
•New People app. Another universal solution, the People app now sports a new visual design and comprehensively collects all contacts across Exchange, Outlook.com, Gmail, Facebook, etc.
•New Maps app. Included is the first preview version of the universal Maps app. It offers maps, aerial imagery, local search data and voice guided navigation integrated from both the Bing Maps application and HERE Maps.
•Updated App Switcher. This new feature can be accessed by pressing and holding the back button on phones to get a list of recently used apps. The number of recent applications has also been bumped to 15 this time around.

These are but a few of the major new features and applications included in Windows 10 for Phones.

As previous leaks have revealed, there are many more small changes scattered across the new mobile operating system, many of which will please Windows Phone users.
