Microsoft has released yesterday a new firmware update for Surface Pro 3 tablets running Windows 10 (via Neowin). While this is a minor update, Microsoft says that it should improve battery life during sleep as well as Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) performance on IPv6.

Here is the complete changelog (http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/install-update-activate/pro-3-update-history?os=windows-10&ranmid=24542&raneaid=TnL5HPStwNw&ransiteid=TnL5HPStwNw-34svB8Zv.FpRQIXMvrdI3w&tduid=(bf7c0305c892b1f867c725d05fe3a263)(256380)(2459594)(TnL5HPStwNw-34svB8Zv.FpRQIXMvrdI3w)()):

• Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware: 38.13.50.0 improves battery life during sleep.

• Surface Pro UEFI: 3.11.2150.0 improves PXE performance on IPv6.

The Surface Pro 3 will celebrate its third anniversary this month, and it’s good to see that Microsoft is still supporting its first 12-inch hybrid tablet. You can install the new firmware on your Surface Pro 3 by checking Windows Update, but the update is also available to download on Microsoft’s Download Center (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38826&ranMID=24542&ranEAID=TnL5HPStwNw&ranSiteID=TnL5HPStwNw-nXuk2A4e5QW.rBr7j01HaQ&tduid=(bf7c0305c892b1f867c725d05fe3a263)(256380)(2459594)(TnL5HPStwNw-nXuk2A4e5QW.rBr7j01HaQ)()). Let us know in the comments if you notice some improvements after installing the new bits.
