Microsoft Wants User Feedback For Internet Explorer 12
« on: October 18, 2014, 06:05:39 PM »
The company has just opened up a brand new UserVoice suggestion box for Internet Explorer 12, the next version of its web browser that is on track for arrival with Windows 10.

This not only allows users to request new features, but also vote for existing ones — in turn increasing their chances for inclusion in the final version of IE 12. The more the votes, the more the weight behind a particular feature.

Microsoft talked about this in a blog post, while admitting that its Connect feedback platform was not really the way to go, and the UserVoice system works much better:

Quote
“While feature suggestions were regularly submitted via our Connect bug tracking system, they were mixed in with other active bugs and didn’t have a clear way for others from the community to add their votes. Luckily the UserVoice platform exists for exactly this purpose, and Microsoft had already used it effectively.”
The company already is using this platform for Windows Phone, Cortana and Xbox Music, with pretty good success it must be said.

And what’s the top request here, you wonder?

The most voted request here is an option to automatically update older versions of Internet Explorer, akin to a system that exists in other competing browsers on the market like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Not sure Microsoft will do something about it, corporate users and all, but you never know.

Take a look at the Internet Explorer 12 UserVoice page here.
