Users Want Windows 10 Metro Apps To Launch In Full Screen
« on: October 30, 2014, 01:47:21 AM »
More news from the front. It appears that the Modern UI environment has its share of fans, with some asking Microsoft to make Metro apps launch in full screen on Windows 10.

You may recall the wave of criticism that the Redmond based technology titan faced in the wake of Windows 8 release in October 2012. The Modern UI environment was the subject of a lot of that backlash, giving the company tough time.

However, two years is more than enough to win over some fans.

Goes without saying that users have now accepted the way these Metro apps work in Windows 8 (and the subsequent update, Windows 8.1). And although Microsoft is addressing the concerns of desktop users in Windows 10, some people want the original functionality to stay.

This thread on Microsoft’s Community forums has people talking about how they want Metro apps to launch in full screen on the upcoming operating system

Surprising? Loads.

Metro apps launch in their own resizable windows in Windows 10, and while they are maximized by default, some clicks (and taps) are still necessary to switch to full screen mode.

In fact, this is one of the biggest changes Microsoft introduced in the preview version of its new OS.

This, along with the integrated Charms menu that is accessible via three small dots on the top left corner of the app window are custom built for keyboard and mouse users. Whether Microsoft allows users a chance to change the behavior remains to be seen.

Implementing some choices here, would, nevertheless, ease up these concerns.

But one thing’s for sure — it’s impossible to please everyone!
