Microsoft Aims To Make The Windows 10 Upgrade Seamless
« on: October 30, 2014, 01:53:47 AM »
Although many go in with clean installs, you can be sure of an overwhelming amount of users making their Windows 10 upgrade, from previous versions of Windows.

Previous versions like Windows 8 and, as recently confirmed, Windows 7.

Microsoft is aware just how important it is to make the upgrade process fast and simple, in order to ensure that users upgrade their installations without hesitations, and the company has provided some new details on its current work in this regard.

As Jim Alkove explains in a blog post that went live earlier today, upgrades from older flavors of Windows will be performed with minimum effort from users — a smooth experience.

It will be possible to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and Windows 8 straight from these two operating systems, meaning users (and more importantly, businesses) will not be required to deploy any additional tools:

Quote
“We understand the challenges that many organizations experienced as part of their Windows XP to Windows 7 migrations, and are working hard to ensure that compatibility between Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 is excellent.”
A few patches are expected to be shipped via Windows Update, though.

Routine stuff.

An equally important confirmation is that the Windows 10 system requirements will remain unchanged from Windows 7 and Windows 8. Anyone that can run these two operating systems will be able to deploy Windows 10 without any issues, whatsoever.

By keeping the hardware requirements untouched, the software titan wants to ensure that there are no hiccups, as in users delaying their move to Windows 10 at launch.
