There are usually two strategies to consider...one, jump right in and hope you don't have any problems, or two, wait a week and see what problems arise...  :D

I have just finished installing Service Pack 1 on a test machine and all went fine.  I have included images as you can see.  I started the process at 10:13AM PST and the installation completed at 12:03PM PST.  Configuration restarting and preparing Service Pack 1 did however take a bit longer as reflected in the screen captures included.

The test machine is a Comaq 6029US x86 with an AMD 2100+ 1.73 GHz processor, and 1GB DDR Ram.

The images are the size they are to show details and Date and Time:

I will be installing SP1 later on today on my Packard Bell iExtreme. It has 64-bit version of Windows 7 and I mainly use it for recording my Oddworld walkthrough videos for YouTube.

I will save the SP1 installer on my memory stick and when my Dad gets his new laptop, instead of updating I'll load on Service Pack 1. My HP laptop is in repair so I'll get it back sometime  next week and I'll load on SP1 on it.

Installed Service Pack 1 (windows6.1-KB976932-X64) on my Hp dv8t Quad Edition and all went well.  However I expected nothing less...very smooth operation.
