Gigabyte S1080 currently available Windows 7 Tablet PC
More tablets are coming soon from popular computer component maker and gadget maker on the side, Gigabyte. The Senior Vice President Richard Ma told PCWorld today that Gigabyte will be launching tablets running the Google Android OS exclusively as well as a dual-boot Android and Microsoft Windows 7 and 8 tablets.

For Android exclusively Ma stated his company will have 7-inch and 10-inch models available in July. The 10-inch tablets will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb which is designed specifically for larger screened devices like tablets. The 7-inch models will run on Android 2.2 Froyo operating system which was originally designed for mobile phones.

As for the dual-boot enabled tablet Ma stated his company will have two models. The first model will be launched in October with Android and Windows 7, the second model will launch by the end of 2012 with Android and Windows 8. Ma also noted his company plans to have pricing around $400USD for these tablets.

The model that will be launched with Android and Windows 8 will be powered by either an ARM processor or an Intel X86 processor. Time will only tell if Microsoft will really be able to have a finalized copy of Windows 8 ready with ARM processor support by the end of 2012, if they do Gigabyte will have an ARM powered tablet ready to dual-boot that operating system.

Recently Microsoft has offered demos of Windows running on an ARM powered computer. However at this time Microsoft has not released a hard release date for their next operating system that will have support for ARM processors.
