Emergency Patch Out For Windows 10 Users
« on: July 21, 2015, 04:54:32 PM »
Windows 10 may still not be shrink-wrapped, but that doesn’t mean its not immune to the perils of hacking threats. Microsoft has issued a new patch to prevent a font-based attack that could take over your PC.

The patch will help fix a code execution vulnerability that exists in Windows Adobe Type Manager Library. All it takes is a user to open one document or a website that uses a particular hacked OpenType font to allow hackers access to your machine.

You can read about the cumulative update on Microsoft’s Knowledge Base, the update mentions that it also updates Windows 10 features.

Head to Windows Update to grab the patch and install it as soon as possible to protect your PC. Windows 10’s automatic updates may be a contentious issue, but when it comes to these sorts of problems all users will be grateful for a fast fix and update.

That’s as long as everything works, of course. The minute a patch is released that starts breaking thinks, then perhaps customers won’t be so forgiving. We can only hope Microsoft’s testing processes are up to the job.
