World of Tank developer Wargaming has partnered with the Tank Museum at Bovington at Tankfest 2017 to complete the missing tank from the new Tiger Collection: the legendary and ultra-rare Sturmmörserwagen 606/4 mit 38 cm RW 61,  nicknamed Sturmtiger.

Then, using Microsoft HoloLens and Google Tango next-gen augmented reality (AR) technology, they created a portal in the wall to the Prokhorovka map, allowing the classic WoT Sturmtiger model to roll into the building, displaying its special features in augmented reality, such as slices of its armor, the firing mechanism of the giant 380mm rocket-propelled shells it used to fire and other visualizations.

The mixed reality recreation was created by Wargaming Special Projects as part of their continuing series of projects at the intersection of new media and heritage storytelling and developed in collaboration with Gravity Jack.

Microsoft has just opened up their Mixed Reality Partner Program, meaning we should see more innovative users of the Microsoft HoloLens which would be rather difficult to achieve authentically while holding a tablet in front of your face.
