HP is continuing its habit of having designers put their mark on the company’s notebooks. Following in the foots of the HP Mini Vivienne Tam and Tord Boontje edition netbooks, HP is introducing a special edition of the Pavilion dm1 11.6 inch notebook.
The new Alexandre Herchcovitch edition notebook features a black and pearl color lace pattern on the lid and palm rest area.
If that wasn’t enough to sell you on the designer edition of the notebook, HP is also throwing in a matching mouse and a gold-colored sleeve that’s umm… distinctive.
The special edition notebook is available exclusively in the US from QVC for $630. That’s a bit higher than the $400 starting price for the plain black version if you order from HP.com, but the special edition does have 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and AMD E-450 processor as well as the mouse and case.
If you configured the standard dm1 notebook with those features it would run $450 or so, not counting the case and mouse.
I’ve always been a little skeptical of these designer edition notebooks that add a little style for a lot of money. But I’m assuming HP wouldn’t keep releasing them if they didn’t sell.
