Origin PC EON 11-S: big gaming in a little laptop
« on: April 29, 2012, 05:25:56 PM »
Origin PC]http://www.originpc.com/eon11-s-gaming-laptop-features.asp]Origin PC has unveiled an 11.6 inch gaming laptop called the EON 11-S. If it looks familiar, that’s because it’s nearly identical to the Maingear Pulse 11 introduced a few days ago. Both laptops are manufactured by Taiwanese PC builder Clevo.

The biggest difference is that the cheapest version of the EON 11-S will be $999, or about $100 less than the least expensive Maingear model.

For about a thousand bucks, you get a laptop with an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a 2.2 GHz Intel B960 Pentium dual-core processors, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB 7200RPM hard drive, 7.1 channel audio, and Windows 7 Home Premium.

Origin PC also lets you choose from a wide range of customization options, so you can beef up the processor, get up to 16GB of RAM, add a larger hard drive or faster solid state disk, or even choose a custom paint job or a TV tuner.

The laptop has 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port, an HDMI 1.4a output, VGA port, Ethernet jack, and headphone and microphone jacks. It has a 6 cell battery for up to 6.5 hours of run time, measures 11.2″ x 8.1″ x 1.4″ and weighs about 3.9 pounds.

You can build one to order today… but it won’t ship until late May.

Now that Dell is phasing out the Alienware M11x gaming laptop with an 11.6 inch display, it’s nice to see a few companies picking up where Dell is leaving off… even if Origin PC and Maingear are basically just offering their own custom versions of the same laptop.
