One in four PCs run Windows 10
« on: April 07, 2016, 09:49:53 PM »
According to NetMarketShare, more and more users are upgrading from Windows 7,Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. According to the web analytics firm, Windows 10 is currently installed on 14.15% of the computers that run on Windows OS. According to Microsoft, though, in February 2016 Windows 10 was reported to be running on 24% of all Windows computers and tablet devices, with the percentage increasing by 2% per month. Microsoft claims that the Windows 10 is being most used by gamers, adding that 35% of the people that play games on a Windows PC have Windows 10 installed on it.

The huge difference between Microsoft’s and NetMarketShare’s disparate figures and is due to NetMarketShare recording OS usage figures. So it not only takes into consideration the number of people using the mentioned Windows 10, but also the number of people using Linux and Mac. Microsoft measures the Windows market share by determining how many people have the OS installed on their computers. NetMarketShare focuses only on desktop computers while Microsoft focuses on both PCs and tablets.

We’d agree that there is still a good number of people who prefer to use Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, but soon enough, they will be tempted to move to Windows 10 — especially if they’re playing games on their computers. According to Microsoft, there are currently over 270 million devices running Windows 10, 618 million devices running Windows 7, and only 236.25 million devices running Windows 8.x.
