Windows 10 Nears Second Place In Denmark
« on: September 19, 2015, 01:24:04 AM »
Danes. They sure do love Windows 10 in Denmark. Microsoft’s latest operating system is close to becoming the second most used desktop OS in this European country.

No mean feat for a platform that has only been out in the wild for a month and some.

While the overall adoption numbers for Windows 10 are steadily, if somewhat slowly, on the rise, looking at the statistics for North America and Europe reveals that the latter region seems to be much more interested in Redmond’s latest.

Then again, Europe also has a thing for the Windows Phone platform, even if Microsoft is not overly keen on focusing on this region — at least, not to the extent that it can. Or should.

But coming back to the desktop side of things, the September 2015 data provided by StatCounter reveals that the Windows 10 usage in the Old Continent is growing faster than all other regions, and there is one specific market where the operating system is sparkling.

Denmark, if you may recall, was one country that rapidly gave up on Windows XP when support for the vintage OS ended in April 2014.

And it’s not surprising that users there are switching to Windows 10 just as fast.

It now has as remarkable 15.63% market share in just 40 days, quickly catching up to Windows 8.1 and its figures of 17.84%. Mac OS X, for the record, is even closer with 17.5%, though Windows 7 still leads the charts with a commanding 40.81%.

But not as commanding as its share in excess of 50% last month.

Meaning, Windows 10 lost nearly 10% of its users in just the span of a month. If this keeps up, the new operating system should have no trouble securing silver by October, if not the next few weeks.

Danes. They sure do love Windows 10 in Denmark.
