Lenovo is updating its Miix line of Windows tablets with a new low-cost 8 inch model. The Lenovo Miix 3 8 is launching first in China, but the Lenovo Miix 3 8 is likely to show up in other countries soon. It already passed through the Indonesian version of the FCC recently.
The Lenovo Miix 3 8 features a 7.85 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel IPS display, an Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core Bay Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.
It has a 15Whr battery for up to 7 hours of run time and the tablet has 2MP front and rear cameras, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and a MicroSD card reader.
The tablet measures 0.36 inches thick and weighs 13.2 ounces.
In many ways the older Miix 2 8 inch tablet is a better device. It has a 1280 x 800 pixel screen, a faster Intel Atom Z3740 processor, up to 64GB of built-in storage, and a 5MP rear camera as well as a 17.5Whr battery for up to 8 hours of run time.
But the Miix 2 8 is also a more expensive tablet. It’s still available in China for ¥ 2499 ($407 US), while the new Miix 3 8 sells for ¥ 1499 ($244 US). Note that those prices are the suggested retail prices in China. The Miix 2 sells for much less in the United States, and it’s possible that the Miix 3 will as well.
