Windows 10 Gets A New Wireless Display Adapter
« on: February 17, 2016, 08:46:28 PM »

Microsoft has updated its ever-useful Wireless Display Adapter with a new, sleeker, unit.

Available from the start of the March, North Americans can pre-order the new model for $49.95.

It enables users to send images, video, gameplay and other content from notebooks, tablets or smartphones with Miracast direct to a big-screen HD TV or other display.

With Windows 10, Surface and other devices can extend or mirror their screen to the bigger screen, creating improved work or collaboration possibilities.

The original was a little more expensive on launch back in 2014 for Windows 8 devices. The new model is a little smaller with a bit more design flair built in and should provide slightly better response, which should improve big-screen gaming.

Anyone wanting the new adapter outside the States and Canada shouldn’t have to wait too long as a wider rollout is expected soon.

You can pre-order it here on the Microsoft Store. As ever, it plugs into the big screen via HDMI and powers through USB. The range is around 7 meters, and it can pair with multiple devices, but only use one at a time.

The new unit is now just 4.07 x .87 x .43 inches with an 11.8 in (300 mm) cable. It weighs 1.17 ounces and is available only in a dark titanium color.

It is compatible with Surface devices, including Surface book/Surface Pro 4/Surface 3/Surface Pro 3/Surface 2/Surface Pro/Surface Pro 2, and other Miracast enabled Windows 10/Windows 8.1 devices.

Pre-order the device from the Microsoft Store here.
