Which is to say the company has finally published a KB page for the latest patch for Windows 10, which is labeled as KB3211320. This mysterious security update was released yesterday.

However, the company did not accompany that with any release notes, whatsoever.

Zero documentation.

Now, though, the KB page for this patch that has already been pushed to millions of computers has been made available. And although, Redmond still does not say too much about what this new update brings, it does provide more hints on the changes it implements.

For starters, it more than just a security update for Microsoft Edge, as was originally believed.

So, then, the software titan does mention that it is a service stack update for Windows 10 version 1607 and Windows Server 2016, released on January 24, 2017.

As for what the service stack actually is, this is what Redmond has to say about that:

Quote
“The servicing stack includes the files and resources that are required to service a Windows image. This includes the Package Manager executable, the required servicing libraries, and other resources. The servicing stack is included in all Windows installations.”
This patch actually replaces the October 2016 update that was released as KB3199986, also as a servicing stack update, and also coming with the same description that has been offered for this new patch today.

And what about the changes this particular patch brings to Windows 10 computers?

Stability improvements, primarily, as Microsoft puts it.

Windows 10 users are recommended to install this update. And considering the fact that there have been no reports of failed installs and deployments, it probably is a safe bet to install this update as soon as you get a chance.

The patch does not even require a reboot, so installation can be completed without having to interrupt your work.
