As rumored for the past few weeks, Nokia today finally showcased its midrange Windows Phone 8 devices, namely the Lumia 720. The smartphone was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress currently ongoing in Barcelona.
The 720 offers a sleek and stylish design and is aimed at a young and technology savvy user base. The smartphone is designed to deliver a combination of power performance at a reduced price point.
The company made the announcement on its Nokia Conversations website:
“The Lumia 720 will be available from about €249 ($329) before VAT, rolling out from March 2013 and is available in red, white, cyan, black and yellow. The Lumia 720 will be introduced to China in a TD SCDMA variant – bringing this smartphone to the world’s biggest market with the world’s biggest mobile operator.”
Lumia 720 houses a 1.0GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor (MSM822 ) with 512MB of RAM, and a 4.3 inch ClearBlack WVGA LCD display. 8GB of internal memory is serviceable, but the included microSD card offers limitless expansion possibilities.
A 2,000 mAh battery with support for wireless charging makes the cut.
When it comes to camera, the new Nokia Lumia 720 brings an improved 6.7 megapixel snapper on the back with auto focus, LED flash and HD 720p (ha!) video recording capabilities at 30 fps. The 1.3 megapixel camera on the front is able to deliver Skype HD wide angle video calling.
Additional features include NFC capabilities, along with standards like A-GPS and GLONASS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Accelerometer, Proximity, Magnetometer among others.
Everything is housed in a slim body weighing only 128 grams. As noted above, the smartphone will be hitting markets worldwide starting next month.
