Chinese Company Sells Windows XP-Powered Smartphone
« on: June 09, 2009, 05:55:29 PM »

Windows Mobile? Who wants to deal with just a mobile version of an operating system when you can have the real deal? Some random Chinese company came to that conclusion when they decided to create this unique cell phone. Rather than using Windows Mobile like other similar handsets, this super-smartphone gets its number-crunching courtesy of Windows XP.

According to the provided press picture, the Windows XP phone is meant to combine a mobile phone, GPS, and a notebook, giving you a “pocketable mobile internet terminal.” In many ways, you could say that it’s almost a MID/UMPC that also happens to function as a phone.

Going through the spec sheet, you’ll find a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 120GB hard drive, 7 hours of battery life, some sort of AMD processor, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and GPS. However, it also happens to have a 4.8-inch display with a 800×480 resolution, so it’s not quite as “pocketable” as most other phones.
