clearNew Nokia 'C- Series' Line Planned?
« on: July 19, 2009, 11:49:23 PM »

Currently Nokia has two different series designations for their costlier (and more feature-laden) mobiles. The E series of phones are built for businesses, while the N series phones are built for fun (and social media access). You'd think that would pretty much cover all of the different models of cell phone you'd ever have a desire to market. But, apparently, Nokia has a new letter designation planned.

Some Finnish bloggers have found that Nokia applied for a patent for a new “C” series of mobile phones.

Apparently Nokia divides their cell phones between four separate user groups. 'Connect', 'Live', 'Achieve', and 'Explore'. Those categories represent the things people use their mobiles to do. Our friends in Finland seem to think that the C series will focus on the 'connect' and 'live' categories.

It's entirely possible that Nokia is just going to rebrand several current models and stick them in the C series. I think it's more likely, though, that we're going to see a new line of Nokia mobiles and smartphones targeted at being 'lifestyle' devices. Phones loaded up with features to smooth your day-to-day existence.

The iPhone and Android smartphones are both moving towards applications that make the lives of their users substantially easier. From augmented reality apps to improved calendars and 'green' energy consumption apps, people are using their smartphones to organize and ease their lives more than ever. It's possible that Nokia thinks that is where the market is heading, and wants to head Apple and Google off at the pass.
