32-Bit Windows 10 Confirmed
« on: January 09, 2015, 03:11:06 AM »
Odd reading about 32-bit Windows 10, but some early rumors claimed that Microsoft was pondering moving the next version of the operating system exclusively to 64-bit machines.

And in the process forcing users to upgrade their hardware configurations.

But the company has finally confirmed in a very short tweet that an x86 flavor of Windows 10 will also be released, as there are still hundreds of millions of computers that still run this architecture. Pretty much puts an end to those wild rumors.

Gabriel Aul laid them to rest in this tweet earlier today:

What we don’t have confirmation is whether Redmond did, indeed, considered such an option and dropping support for 32-bit hardware.

However, the fact that we’ve had both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the various Technical Preview builds available for close to three months was proof enough that the company would have stuck with its traditional plan of tackling both configurations.

That only leaves the ARM architecture with potential for drama.

And we’ll find out what’s in store for it, along with a look at many other consumer oriented features of the new operating system at the upcoming Windows 10 event on January 21.

No dramas on the 32-bit front, thank heavens!
