Acer Aspire Switch 12 is a 5 In 1 Device, a 2015 Hybrid
« on: December 09, 2014, 06:00:21 AM »
Acer debuted this fall a nifty hybrid called Aspire Switch 12, a 5 in 1 device that will come to the stores in early 2015. Today we catch a glimpse of some hands on shots of this unusual piece of gear.

Following in the footsteps of the switch and Switch 11, the Switch 12 is basically a notebook with a detachable, magnetic keyboard, but it’s more versatile thanks to a new rear kickstand, that allows the display to stand up completely on its own. The five modes of the device are notebook, tablet, display, tent and desktop. This model already sounds like an iPad Pro rival, even though that model doesn’t even exist yet.

The Switch 12 has a black area in the keyboard and display section and its full size keyboard comes with a pointing stick for business users. There’s also support for Acer’s Active pen for drawing and taking notes. Switch 12 relies on an Intel Core M processor, meaning it’s part of the new generation of fanless designs, with lower power usage. There’s a microUSB 3.0 and microHDMI port on board and Acer will ship this unit with 60 GB or 120 GB SSD configurations.

No pricing has been announced yet, but it’s expected to be in the range of thousands of dollars, according to the source.
