One of the most affordable 2-in-1 devices you can get your hands on right about now is the newly announced Lenovo Miix 320, an alternative to Microsoft Surface that will hit the market in April.

For $199.

The detachable machine has been in the news lately, and the Chinese hardware giant officially unveiled it at MWC 2017, confirming that this super portable device comes with a 10.1-inch full HD screen that users can use as fully featured Windows 10 tablet.

A keyboard is also available separately, and it comes with a precision trackpad — in a move that makes this device feel more like a laptop when working in desktop mode.

This is how Lenovo describes the deal:

Quote
“The Miix 320’s detachable form factor matches a multitasker’s need for instant flexibility. For blogging or budgeting on a fully loaded laptop, simply attach the stable docking keyboard with precision touchpad and get to work wherever you are.”

And this is how this latest arrival looks:

Of course, you get what you pay for, and in this case, the Miix 320 is hardly a productivity workhorse.

An Intel Atom X5 processors, Intel HD graphics, up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB eMMC storage are part of the package that weighs just 550 grams. Dolby Advanced Audio is also integrated for a fairly capable audio experience.

Adding a keyboard, obviously, tips the scales at 1.02 kg.

WiFi is obviously offered, while Lenovo promises LTE separately. And although no specifics are provided for the battery, the company claims that the Miix 320 can achieve 10 hours of battery life.

Pricing is a bit of a mixed bag outside North America, though, as the Miix 320 will go on sale in the region for $199.99 in April. Buyers in EMEA will have to part with €269 for the same version, while the one with LTE support will run €399.

There is where things get expensive.

Nevertheless, this is another welcome addition to the Windows 10 ecosystem, and has all the makings of a very capable and powerful device.
