Microsoft will be releasing its 300MB Service Pack 2 for Office 2008 on the Mac platform today, at approximately 1PM Eastern time, 10AM Pacific. The new update is promising “speed, stability and compatibility improvements, along with a new tool called Document Connection for Mac that leverages Microsoft’s SharePoint technology,” according to Mac World.
Among improvements, Excel spreadsheet calculations have been improved by a whopping 24%, and Microsoft Word works up to 10 times quicker than it did before, and booting up Word? It’s a breeze. Powerpoint is also expected to come with some improvements; of which include custom path animation, and default theme support.
The new Document Connection tool will allow users to open and save documents directly with a connection to Microsoft Office Live Workspace, in which users would have to formerly use a browser to maintain the connection to Live Workspace.
