Windows 7 N and Windows 7 KN are special editions of Windows 7 tailored to comply with regulations in specific regions of the world. Microsoft offers these versions of the operating system in addition to the standard versions that are available worldwide. The differences? Windows 7 N and Windows 7 KN ship without Windows Media Player and related programs such as Windows Media Center.
Users who bought computers with Windows 7 N or KN installed or media of those operating systems can download the missing components free of charge. The Media Feature Pack for Windows 7 N enable the media functionality on those operating system versions.
Microsoft recently updated the media feature pack for compatibility reasons. The new Media Feature Pack for Windows 7 N with Service Pack 1 and Windows 7 KN with Service Pack 1 are now available for download for users of Windows 7 N or Windows 7 KN.
A genuine Windows system is required before the packs can be downloaded to the local system. They basically turn the system into a full Windows 7 system with media player support.
