No Audio for weeks, not sure if Windows 7 or Acer Aspire 8930 causing it...

There has been no audio on my Acer Aspire 8930 for weeks, well just a couple of days when I powered it on it was enabled otherwise did not come on and small red x by the speaker volume adjust. Is it my Windows 7 or the Acer Aspire 8930...I need sound so please let me know!
