Network/wireless issue
« on: January 16, 2010, 04:53:20 PM »
I am totally frustrated. Something has stopped working and I have no idea why.

W7 7600
Laptop-old Dell 8200 inspiron-768MB ram 2G+ intel P
It has a Ralink 2560 mini-pci
I have also attached an external USB Ralink 802.11n wireless- an RT2770 with the mini disabled.
both have the latest W7 compatible drivers.
I can attach a cable and that does connect to my router.
the external adapter on another computer, DT or LT, shows at least 10 networks.

NEITHER wireless rcv ANY signals. Both WERE rcving signals. The internal one only my network.
The external one about 8 networks.

All of a sudden it stopped, the diag said that it could not bind the stack to the adapter. Now it doesn't even tell me that - it just says there are no networks available.

I'm about to wipe it out and start over but I would rather know what the problem is.

thx

OK laptop #2 just quit also.

There is a post on
http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7network/thread/43f61a9c-069b-49ab-9f5b-f52ec2b1ef7e/?prof=required

about this very thing - seems like an MS problem.
