Jump List for IE8 - tasks not working

Re IE8 on Windows 7 build 7600

I've just reinstalled Windows 7. Now, when I right-click in the IE8 icon on the taskbar, the Jump List pops up but the Open New Tab and Start InPrivate Browsing tasks no longer work. Another IE8 icon flashes up briefly on the taskbar but it disappears straight away and nothing else happens.

I've tried disabling all add-ons but no joy.

Any ideas?

Media Player's Jump List tasks don't work either.
