Today is the day! Microsoft is set to launch the Windows 10 Creators Update as a manual download for users later today, meaning you will not have to wait until April 11 to get access to this new version.

The software titan had already confirmed April 5 as the date for this launch.

This release is aimed at slightly more advanced users — those who are comfortable using the Upgrade Assistant application. That said, the whole process is quite easy, and basically, comes down to just a few steps before the process of download and install begins.

Designed as a wizard, the Update Assistant scans the system for storage space and possible app compatibility issues in order to determine whether the computer is ready to install the Creators Update.

Of course, this latest version of Windows 10 comes as a free upgrade for users, as long as they are running an activated copy of the operating system.

In terms of changes, there Creators Update brings along several welcome improvements, including the ability to pause updates, exclude drivers from updates, the new blue light filter, a dedicated game mode, and the ability to preview tabs, and set them aside in the Microsoft Edge web browser.

There is also the new Paint 3D app, as well as the integration of the Windows Holographic Shell.

A much more detailed rundown of what is available in the Creators Update is available here.

The update itself will become available for all users on April 11, while the smartphone users will get the final bits on April 25, depending on the region and carrier, as well as handsets.

It’s a complex rollout overall, but we will soon be at the second stage now after Insiders got access to the final RTM build late last month.

Good going!
