CES 2017:Qualcomm Promises Snapdragon 835 Details
« on: December 29, 2016, 07:37:45 PM »
It was not that long ago that both Qualcomm and Samsung officially unveiled the Snapdragon 835 mobile CPU, but now the US based chip maker is promising even more details on it soon.

More specifically, at CES 2017.

Although the original announcement did not provide details on its capabilities, we do know that Samsung is manufacturing this new chip on its 10nm FinFET process. Buzz among the bees, however, has also provided us with several pointers on its performance, charging and battery life improvements.

But now Qualcomm says that its new chipset will come into focus at CES 2017:

Both companies have already confirmed that this new chip is made of nanomaterials, molecules and atoms less than 100nm in size that have different properties from their larger particle counterparts.

Amazingly, it makes use of elements the size of a single water molecule, or 1,000 times smaller than a strand of hair.

What this means is that this new process allows for up to a 30% increase in are efficiency, 27% improvements in performance or up to 40% less power consumption over the previous generation Snapdragon CPUs.

Of course, keeping in mind the fact that both Microsoft and Qualcomm are now close collaborators in the mobile and even PC space, we can expect the Snapdragon 835 to power a bunch of Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile powered devices next year.

But before that, we should have the full lowdown on this chip in less than two weeks from now.

ARM sure is taking over the world!
