The feature was first made public with beta 6 and it has been under consistent testing since. The feature takes up to "
a few" weeks to complete which means that you will not see the end result at once. It will fix the “unexpected battery drain behavior or, in a small number of instances, reduced peak performance capability”. Check when Apple will release iOS 14.5 in your local time zone. Here's what you have to do in order to use battery recalibration on your iPhone in iOS 14.5.
1. Head over to Settings.
2. Tap on Battery.
3. Select Battery Health.
You will see the new "
Important Battery Message" option related to the battery recalibration process in iOS 14.5. Since the process works automatically, you will not have to enable an option by default. Everything will work in the backend and the results will potentially be evident in the coming weeks.

The battery recalibration process will happen over a span of time with regular charge cycles. If you are not sure whether the battery recalibration process is complete, simply repeat the step-by-step instructions listed above. If the "Important Battery Message" is no longer there, you can be at ease that the process is now complete. Once the message disappears, the new Maximum Capacity and Peak Performance are achieved. If the message appears again, it means that the recalibration has found "significantly degraded" battery health.
