Confirmed:

Microsoft has started to send out invites to its second Windows 10 event, which is being held in Redmond on January 21st. The event is rumored to unveil Windows 10 running on tablets and phones, as well as even more improvements to the desktop. Features like Continuum and possibly Cortana are on schedule to make an appearance.

The event will also see Microsoft unveil the January Technical Preview, which will be when the Windows Insider Program resumes. It's currently unclear whether Microsoft will release the mobile iterations of Windows 10 on the same day, as internally the company is still developing core functions and features. Once the mobile preview does drop, it will receive constant updates much like Windows 10 on the desktop.

The event will also be live streamed, meaning those who are not invited can watch Microsoft unveil these new features from the comfort of their own homes, unlike the first Windows 10 unveiling which was not live streamed.

So, it's time to start getting excited! Windows 10 is set to arrive with a Start Menu, windowed apps, desktop tiles, Mixview, Cortana, Continuum and many more features. Stay tuned at WinBeta over the next few weeks as although 2014 is almost over, there's still a lot to talk about!
