Windows 10 RTM Probably Will Not Require A Clean Install
« on: December 13, 2014, 04:45:18 AM »
Another small confirmation for Windows Insiders that want to upgrade directly to Windows 10 RTM on their test devices. Microsoft has certainly made it easy for more people to join the program.

With new releases coming on a monthly basis, and the release of the final operating system a while away, it is quite necessary for the software titan to make sure all these test users remain on board, and keep on providing their feedback.

And one way to make sure this happens is allowing these preview users to upgrade directly to the RTM version once it is out.

News about this first came out at the start of the month.

Good old Gabriel has once again provided another confirmation of this seamless upgrade experience in a confident sounding tweet earlier today:

Meaning, if all goes well, no clean install would be needed for Windows 10 Technical Preview users, and they’ll get built in options that enable them to hop onto the final retail version — just as they were installing another preview build.

This might also make direct upgrading from Windows 7 possible, as Redmond has also provided these users with a possibility to try out the preview builds of its upcoming OS.

There are people that revel in doing fresh, clean installs, and enjoy the benefits this approach provides, but obviously, not everyone is technical enough to tinker with their operating system, so this clearly is an important consideration.

Now, only if we had an idea about the price of Windows 10.

Only if.
