If you think Lenovo is done with announcing new products at IFA 2014, think again. It's not just the new gaming machines and the ultrabook, Lenovo also revealed the new Horizon 2s and 2e tabletop PCs, designed to take care of your daily PC needs at a "slightly" affordable price tag. Both devices run Windows 8.1 as its operating system out of the box.
“Our latest consumer and business PC portfolio demonstrates how we’re innovating to meet the very different needs of these two customer groups,” said Dilip Bhatia, vice president, design and marketing, PC Group, Lenovo. “From the first modular desktop solution and creating a new standard for business 2-in-1s to the next generation of tabletop PC and new multimode laptops, we’re committed to delivering products that delight users and help them get more done.”
Lenovo Horizon 2e comes with a gigantic 21.5-inch display boasting a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels with a 10-point multitouch and adjustable viewing angles so you can place and use it a more comfortable way. It's powered by an up to 4th generation Intel Core processor with up to NVIDIA GT 820A with 2GB of memory. The tabletop PC comes with 8GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage space.
It comes with a AccuType, aluminum coated, wireless keyboard to meet all your typing needs. The battery may be a little disappointing for few, offering up to three hours of usage when streaming content over WiFi, but if you think about it from another perspective, that is, the hardware powering the machine, I think it should be more than enough -- plus you're not going to carry this gigantic thing all the time.
As for the Horizn 2s, it comes with a slightly smaller 19.5-inch 1080p display, which is way thinner than the Horizon 2e -- only 0.59 inch thin. It's also powered by the 4th generation Intel core processor, but the graphics are handled by the integrated Intel Graphics. There's up to 8GB of RAM, 500GB of hard drive, an optional charging stand for comfortable usage, and weighs only 2.5 kgs.
Both models will hit retail in several global markets from October. As far as the pricing is concerned, the Horizon 2s will start at $949, while the budget-friendly Horizon 2e price will start at $749.
