US Air Force Signs Up For Microsoft Office 365
« on: July 16, 2015, 03:49:12 PM »
There’s no disputing the fact that the cloud holds immense growth potential for Microsoft, from its ventures with Office 365 to the Azure platform, things are just warming up.

The Redmond based technology giant regularly announces new cloud deals and partnerships.

And this time around, the company has signed its largest commercial cloud contract in the history of the Department of Defense — the US Air Force has announced a deal that will bring a dedicated version of Microsoft Office 365 on more than 100,000 accounts.

This is part of a broader agreement with Microsoft, Dell and General Dynamics.

A press statement from the US Air Force:

Quote
“The capabilities of Office 365 allow the Air Force to pursue the next generation of enterprise services in a cost-effective and efficient way that boosts the productivity and collaboration of Service members. The next generation Information Technology environment will be dominated by users seamlessly connecting to and through the cloud. The lessons learned from the Collaboration Pathfinder will provide metrics to evaluate broader Cloud Service Provider (CSP) solutions.”
And as Microsoft points out:

Quote
“No organization deserves a more enterprise- and security-ready approach than the Air Force. This announcement shows that when it comes to a trusted, secure, and productivity-enabled cloud, Microsoft is up to the task.”
The software titan has revealed that the deployment of Office 365 is on track to begin in the next government fiscal year, and Microsoft will provide employees with access to secure email, calendar, OWA, Skype for Business and other such communication and collaboration tools.
