Flash To Be Blocked On Edge By Default In Creators Update

Flash is becoming a thing of the past in a flash, for the lack of a better word. Companies have been taking steps to do away with the technology for a while now, including Apple, Google, and Mozilla.

And now Microsoft is joining in.

The company has confirmed that it will begin blocking this web technology in favor of HTML5.

Edge provided users with more control over Flash in Anniversary Update, but come to the Creators Update, Flash will be blocked by default. In fact, Redmond says that Flash content will not even be loaded in order to improve performance, battery life and security.

According to the software titan, this new feature in Edge will affect all but the most popular sites which rely on Flash.

And if you frequent a website that still makes use of the Flash web technology, there is no cause for concern — you will still be able to enable it on demand. When visiting a page that requires it, you will be given the option to either allow it once or always.

So, I guess we can say that by the time Creators Update launches, Flash will be gone in a flash.
