$150 Android 4.0 Tablet Wants to be a Kindle Fire Rival
« on: April 17, 2012, 11:08:50 PM »
Amazon’s affordable Kindle Fire tablet doesn’t look so affordable any more when you have a look at all those nifty Android 4.0 slates coming from Asia, with very reasonable price tags. Samsung already announced last week that it plans on making lower cost Galaxy tablets and now there’s a new company to contest the affordability of the Kindle Fire. I’m talking about Xtex, the maker of the My Tablet 7.

Xtex is a New York-based firm that created the most affordable tablet in the USA, going for a mere $150. The My Tablet 7 is a 7 inch entry level device that’s already up for direct order through its maker. The specs aren’t half bad, I’ll give you that much: 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 1.5 GHz processor, 16 GB of storage, SD storage extra, 1 GB of RAM and a 2 megapixel camera at the front. There’s even an HDMI port in the mix, with support for 1080p output, plus a full USB port and a min USB one.

The OS of choice is Android 4.0.3 ICS and the only downside to the product is the low resolution, other than that everything is peachy. The only thing I’m curios about is if Xtex makes its own devices of if they’re made in China and rebranded in the USA… it would be nice if they made their own gear.
