Monday May 11, 2009 10:25 AM approximately 15 minutes ago Microsoft SAN FRANCISCO confirmed that the new version of its flagship Windows software is on track for release this year, prior to the crucial holiday shopping season. Microsoft said in a statement that Windows 7, the successor to Windows Vista, "is tracking well for holiday availability." Microsoft has been under pressure to make Windows 7 available promptly, as its predecessor Vista suffered from a delayed release and drew widespread criticism.
