Designer Andrew Kim has cooked up this neat-looking concept phone, built for HTC. The hardware has a few surprises, like the chin of the phone flipping out to act as an integrated kickstand, hidden strereo speakers, and a UV light to kill germs on the display. What’s really eye-catching is the streamlined user interface that cuts away all of the fat and gets down to core tasks. The home screen features three icons (call, messaging, and e-mail), and a combined clock/weather icon. That’s it. Other home screens house news sources and a conglomerated social media feed. The media player is nicely slimmed down as well.
Something like this isn’t entirely out of the reach of HTC – they’ve already offered a relatively minimal experience in their BREW device, the Smart, although it still involved digging through a lot of menus. Cool stuff all around – hopefully HTC is listening and spotted a few things they could try out.
