Techie-buzz have dug up a new Microsoft patent application (http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PG01&s1=20110143769.PGNR.&OS=DN/20110143769RS=DN/20110143769) for a dual screen phone which should be very familiar to regular Microsoft watchers.

The concept offers different functions on the different screens and the screens are of course detachable as need be, in the example in the patent the secondary screen for example acts as a remote for the larger handset when cradled.

Of course the last picture shows the reality of a dual screen device – rather clunky and thick, but maybe one day the technology will catch up with the vision in the video.
